Today at Fairfield Primary School we held a very special event! One of our school families receives regular support from Jigsaw - Cumbria Children’s Hospice. Jigsaw provides one to one care for children and young adults with life limiting illnesses as well having the facility for up to 5 children and adults to stay overnight. The home from home environment at Jigsaw’s hospice allows the nurses to match home routines as closely as possible while providing a place of fun and laughter in a welcoming and safe atmosphere. Jigsaw has a multi-sensory room, a smoothie bar packed with arts and crafts and a sensory garden with a water fountain and flower beds. Jigsaw also provides opportunities to go on a range of outings in the local area including parks, farm parks and tourist attractions.

The running of this wonderful organisation costs over 1 million pounds a year. Our family requested Fairfield’s help in raising funds for Jigsaw. They came up with the idea of having a Pyjama day at school. We invited Sam Johnston and Jigsaw’s mascot Hospuss to come to school and talk to the children about the charity. We are proud to have raised £435.40 for Jigsaw today. We want to say a huge thank you to all those that donated which will go some way towards helping Jigsaw to carry on doing the invaluable work that it does in Cumbria.
