Image of ‘Have a Humbug’- A kind donation!

Christine Wadsworth, author of the children's book ‘Have a Humbug’, has very kindly donated a copy of her book to every Year 5 and 6 child in our school to help-out in the current lockdown situation.

The book portrays the life of Percy Kelly (a local artist) detailing his childhood in Workington; his house in Corporation Road; his first school; and his first job at 14! This interactive book is bright and colourful and comes with a set of Derwent Academy watercolour pencils, a paint brush and a graphics pencil to encourage upper Key Stage 2 children to draw.

The books are available for collection via our Book Exchange/Resource Collection system on Thursday. Our Year 5 and 6 children, within school provision, are certainly enjoying this wonderful resource. Don’t worry, if you are unable to collect a copy, we will have them available upon pupils’ return to school.

Thank-you Christine!
