Our current assembly value is 'Healthy Lifestyles'. So far, the children have learnt about the importance of exercise and sleep for both our physical and mental well-being.
Since the return to school, there have been lots of wonderful examples of our fantastic pupils engaging in a variety of sports and physical activities.
Our Year 5 children thoroughly enjoyed their Bikeability sessions last week, which also links to our safeguarding curriculum. Last Thursday, over forty pupils (from Years 4, 5 and 6) represented our school at a cross-country event at Eaglesfield Paddle C Of E Primary School ; we are looking forward to hosting a similar event on Wednesday, on our school field, where the fun and competitive spirit will continue.
Meanwhile, Year 1 have been engaging in tennis sessions with a specialist coach and our Year 3 children have been showing off their 'Zorba' dancing skills as part of their PE sessions, linking to their History topic on Ancient Greece.
Last Friday, Year 5 started their Forest School provision and thoroughly enjoyed their learning outdoors, in the beautiful, Winter sunshine. Finally, some talented Year 6 gymnasts will be taking place in a competition on Saturday, in Carlise. If their rehearsals are anything to go by, it promises to be a wonderful showcase of incredible talent.
