It's been another great week of learning right across the school, in all aspects of the curriculum.
In Nursery, the Friendly Frogs have continued with their topic of Space by making space cookies in Design & Technology.
Two very special visitors joined our Helpful Hamsters and Kind Kittens (Reception) to help them with their English lessons this week, studying the book 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff'. It was a lesson to remember!
Meanwhile, in Key Stage 1, our Year 1 children have been busy making sandwiches as part of their instructional writing in English and in Art, as part of their topic ‘Scenes of the Sea’, they created a piece of Egyptian artwork using lines to represent the sea, similar to those seen in ancient Egyptian paintings and used teabags to create a papyrus effect. Sticking with the Art theme, in Year 2, as part of their study of Mesopotamian Art, the children used natural materials to create a traditional picture.
Meanwhile, in Key Stage 2, we were thrilled to re-establish our talented choir and welcome Eaglesfield Paddle C Of E Primary School to our field for a fantastic cross-country event, with over forty Fairfield runners competing. Our wonderful Year 3 children had a very interesting Science lesson led by Mrs. Ellis (a dental nurse) who talked to the children about sugar, which links to their Science topic of Healthy Eating. In Year 4, pupils have enjoyed exploring electricity in a very practical way: they particularly enjoyed linking hands, creating energy, to light up the energy stick!
The sound of glockenspiels echoed in Year 5 this week as pupils continued to learn Adele's "Make you feel my love" and in Computing, Year 5 have enjoyed exploring different technology (from several decades) to assess device effectiveness for producing video and/or audio. Finally, in Year 6 RE lessons this week, the children shared their precious gifts and baby memories as part of their Rites of Passage topic.
