Year 5 enjoyed a very informative trip to The Archive Centre, in Whitehaven, to learn more about life in Cockermouth during the Victorian Era. The children studied lots of primary sources including: maps, photographs, mining records and business directories. The children were particularly interested in the documents relating to the Workhouse, which was located a short distance from our school.
This trip forms part of the children's History topic of study on the Victorian Era.
The children were praised for their thought-provoking questions, respectful manner and mature attitude.
Well done Year 5!
